Feedback and Corrections Policy

1. Purpose and Scope

hockeytape.ca is run by Scott Plumptree in Vancouver, British Columbia. This policy covers how we handle feedback about the site, corrections to facts and player stories, and how products and stores are mentioned.

2. Guidance We Follow

We follow Competition Bureau Canada guidance on deceptive marketing and the United States Federal Trade Commission’s Guides Concerning Endorsements and Testimonials.

3. Principles

Accuracy: Facts, player stories and rules on the site link to their sources. If something is not documented, we say so.
Open feedback: Positive, neutral and negative feedback are all welcome, and none of it is filtered out.
No incentives: We never offer money, free products or anything else for feedback, reviews, endorsements or social posts.
No edited words: We do not change quotes from players, coaches or readers. Shortened quotes are marked.

4. What We Never Do

Publish reviews, testimonials or endorsements written by us, by people paid by a brand, or by software
Ask only happy readers for feedback, or hide criticism
Pay or reward anyone for a review, rating or mention
Present advertising as editorial content. Paid placements are labelled; see our Advertising Disclosure
Rank tape brands or stores in return for payment

5. Corrections

If you think something on the site is wrong, email [email protected] with the page, what is wrong, and a source if you have one. We will:

Check it against the original sources
Fix confirmed errors as soon as we reasonably can
Note significant corrections on the page, saying what changed and when

Player stories that cannot be confirmed by a reliable source are removed or marked as unconfirmed.

6. Player and Family Requests

Players, their families and their representatives can ask us to correct or update a story about them. We will review every request and respond within 10 business days.

7. Product and Store Mentions

Brands, tape and stores are mentioned because they are useful to readers, not because anyone paid. Store listings on our Where to Buy pages are not endorsements. Store owners can ask us to correct or remove a listing at any time.

8. Your Rights

You can give honest feedback, or none, without any effect on how you can use the site. You can ask how any feedback you sent is used, and ask us to delete it.

9. Reporting a Problem

If you see something on the site that breaks this policy, email [email protected]. We review every report.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
