Data Subject Access Request
Effective October 25, 2026. Last updated October 25, 2026.
In short
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to learn how we use it. Email your request to [email protected]. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on it.
hockeytape.ca is owned and operated by Scott Plumptree, an individual in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The only personal information we hold is what you sent through our “Share your story” or advertising enquiry forms, plus technical data our host processes to deliver the site.
1. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to ask us to:
- Confirm whether we hold your personal information
- Give you access to it
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete it, subject to legal exceptions
- Explain how it is collected, used and disclosed
- Give you a copy in a portable format
- Withdraw your consent to publish your story
These rights vary by jurisdiction, including Canada, California and other US states. We do not sell or share personal information or do targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of.
2. How to Submit a Request
Email [email protected]. There is no web form.
To help us find your information, tell us which form you used and roughly when, and what you would like us to do. If you used an email address on the form, please write from that address.
3. Verification
To protect your privacy, we may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. This may mean confirming details of what you sent us, or asking for other information reasonably needed to confirm who you are.
If we cannot verify your identity, we may deny or limit the request as the law allows.
4. Authorized Agents
Where the law allows, you may name an authorized agent to make a request for you. We may ask for proof of the agent’s authority and ask you to verify your identity directly with us.
5. Response Timeline
We will respond to verified requests within the time required by applicable law. We aim to respond within 30 days, unless the law permits an extension.
If we decline your request, you may appeal by emailing [email protected]. Where state law requires, we will answer your appeal within the time it sets and, if we deny it, tell you how to contact your Attorney General or privacy regulator.
6. Limitations and Exceptions
Your rights have some legal limits. For example, we may keep or decline to delete information where needed to:
- Comply with legal obligations
- Finish replying to something you asked us
- Detect security incidents or protect against abuse
- Exercise or defend legal claims
7. Non-Discrimination
We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights. The site stays free and fully available to you.
8. California Residents
If you live in California, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use and disclose
- Request deletion or correction of personal information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information
See our California Notice at Collection and Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information pages.
9. Canadian Residents
If you are in Canada, you have the right under applicable privacy law to access and request correction of your personal information, subject to legal limits. See the Canadian rights section of our Privacy Policy.
