Communications Policy

Effective October 25, 2026. Last updated October 25, 2026.

In short

We only contact you by email, and only to reply to something you sent us. We do not phone, text, record calls or pass your details to anyone so they can contact you.

1. Overview

hockeytape.ca is run by Scott Plumptree in Vancouver, British Columbia. This policy explains how we communicate with people who contact the site.

2. How We Contact You

We use email only. We send:

  • Replies to questions, corrections or accessibility requests you email us
  • Follow-ups about a story you sent through the “Share your story” form, if you gave us your email
  • Replies to advertising enquiries

We do not send newsletters, promotions or marketing messages of any kind.

3. Phone Calls and Text Messages

We do not make phone calls or send text (SMS) messages, and we do not use automated diallers or messaging systems. If you receive a call or text that claims to be from hockeytape.ca, it is not from us. Please forward the details to [email protected].

Writing to us is consent for us to reply to that message. It is not consent to anything else. You can ask us to stop at any time by replying “stop” or emailing [email protected], and we will stop within 10 business days.

5. Third Parties

We do not share, sell or rent your contact details, and we do not pass them to stores, brands or advertisers so they can contact you. Stores listed on our Where to Buy pages are independent businesses. If you contact them, their own policies apply.

6. Compliance with the Law

We follow Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and, for readers in the United States, the CAN-SPAM Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Our emails identify who they are from and how to reach us. See our Anti-Spam (CASL) Policy for details.

7. How Your Information Is Used

Anything you send us is handled under our Privacy Policy. We use it only to reply to you and to deal with the request you made.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the messages you send us. No email system is completely secure, so please do not send passwords, payment details or government ID numbers.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
