Accessibility Statement
Effective October 25, 2026. Last updated October 25, 2026.
In short
We want hockeytape.ca to work for everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim for WCAG 2.2 Level AA and keep improving. If something on the site gets in your way, email us and we will help.
1. Our Commitment
hockeytape.ca is run by Scott Plumptree in Vancouver, British Columbia. We want the site to be usable by the widest possible audience, whatever technology or ability they bring.
We want everyone to be able to:
- Find and understand information clearly
- Move around the site with a variety of input methods
- Use the tutorials and the Tape Lab without barriers
Accessibility is an ongoing responsibility, and we keep working on it.
2. Accessibility Standards
Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. We also aim to meet the accessibility laws that apply to the site.
We work toward this target through how the site is designed, built and tested. We do not rely on an overlay or accessibility widget.
3. What We Do
- Use semantic HTML, a logical heading order and readable layouts
- Provide a skip link to jump straight to the main content
- Support keyboard use, including arrow keys to turn the 3D stick in the Tape Lab
- Respect your device’s reduced-motion setting
- Provide alt text for images
- Offer still images and written steps when WebGPU is not available, so every tutorial works without the 3D view
- Keep navigation consistent from page to page
We review the site with a mix of manual testing, automated tools and visitor feedback.
4. Browsers and Assistive Technology
The site is designed to work with:
- Current versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox
- Screen readers
- Keyboard-only navigation
The 3D Tape Lab uses WebGPU, which not every browser or device supports. When it is missing, you get still images and text steps instead. Results can vary with your browser, device, settings and assistive technology. We keep checking as these change.
5. Known Limitations
- The interactive 3D view depends on WebGPU and may be hard to use with some assistive technologies. The still images and written steps carry the same tutorial content.
- Player stories link to outside sources. We do not control those sites, and they may not meet the same standard.
If you find a barrier we have not listed, please tell us.
6. Feedback and Help
We welcome feedback on the site’s accessibility. If you hit a barrier, email [email protected].
To help us fix it, please include:
- The page URL
- What went wrong
- The browser and any assistive technology you use
We will make reasonable efforts to reply within 5 business days and to get you the information you need in a form that works for you.
7. Ongoing Improvements
Accessibility is never finished. We keep reviewing the site, its code and its content to make it easier for everyone to use.
